What is intestate?

Intestate indicates that someone died without a will, there are statutes in Florida that decide how the decedent's estate will be distributed. These are referred to as the intestacy statutes. That's why it's important for someone to have a will because that way they're assured that the assets are distributed in the manner they want rather than according to the law.
