What if another person filed for guardianship over a loved one and I disagree with having that person appointed?

If you are aware of a guardianship being filed and you disagree with who should be the Guardian. You're free to contest that and to intervene yourself if you're an interested person. Florida law establishes priorities on who is to be considered by the court to be the Guardian starting with close family members further this same law disqualifies some people from being guardians. For example; if someone is a convicted felon they can't be a guardian or if someone has a conflict of interest. They cannot be a guardian so it's important if you disagree that you become active in the guardianship to make sure that someone who is best for the ward legend capacitated person is appointed.
