Will my family need to pay estate taxes at my death?

An estate taxes are actually paid from the estate and it's not an obligation of the family, under the current federal tax law. An estate of a married couple would have to exceed 5.4 million dollars from any estate taxes to be due and Florida has no estate taxes. So, it's very unlikely that any estate taxes would be due. These days estate planning mostly deals with assuring that the wishes of the testator or the testatrix are fulfilled and not with a state tax planning you.
